Why Canadian Submission Matters for RCMP Fingerprinting

What Is the RCMP Certified Criminal Record Check?

The RCMP Certified Criminal Record Check — commonly called Canadian PCC or RCMP PCC — is Canada's official police clearance certificate. Issued through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) via accredited fingerprinting companies, it searches Canadian criminal databases and certifies whether you have a criminal record in Canada.

IRCC requires a police clearance certificate from every country where you have lived for 6 or more consecutive months after your 18th birthday. For anyone who has lived in India, this means an RCMP PCC is required — and fingerprints must be submitted through a Canadian partner.

Important note: PCC Police Check captures fingerprints in India and assists with submission to Canadian partners in Canada who process and submit to the RCMP on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an RCMP fingerprint check for Express Entry?

You only need an RCMP fingerprint check for Express Entry if IRCC specifically asks for it. It is commonly requested when you have lived in Canada or when IRCC needs a fingerprint-based identity check, so follow the message and deadline in your account.

How do I get RCMP clearance done from India?

You get RCMP clearance from India by having your fingerprints captured on the C-216C card and then routed into the Canadian RCMP submission process. PCC Police Check captures the fingerprints in India and coordinates submission through its Official India Partner of Frontier One Inc., RCMP Accredited.

Can my local police station take my RCMP fingerprints instead of a private agency?

A local police station may be able to take fingerprints, but it may not use the RCMP C-216C card or follow the submission requirements correctly. For an RCMP application, the format and print quality matter as much as the fingerprints themselves.

Do I need to go to Canada to get my RCMP fingerprints done?

You do not need to travel to Canada for RCMP fingerprints. PCC Police Check can capture the required C-216C card in India, then the application can be submitted through the correct Canadian route.

How long does it take to get RCMP PCC from India?

A straightforward RCMP PCC from India usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks end to end. Manual review, courier delays, or unclear fingerprints can extend the timeline, so it is better to start soon after receiving the request.

Can I track my RCMP application status from India?

You can request an update using your DCN after submission, but the RCMP does not provide a public tracking page for applicants. Keep your DCN and submission details safe because those are what you will need for any status request.

What happens if my RCMP fingerprints are rejected?

If RCMP fingerprints are rejected, it usually means the ridge detail was too light, smudged, or incomplete. You normally need a fresh set of prints and another submission, which is why PCC Police Check checks print quality before dispatch.

Can any fingerprinting company in India submit directly to the RCMP?

No India-based fingerprinting company can submit directly into the RCMP system on its own. The fingerprints must go through a Canadian submission route; PCC Police Check coordinates this through its Official India Partner of Frontier One Inc., RCMP Accredited.
